Clone

Clone is a feature that enables you to duplicate a portion of your image and then edit that copied element. Some people, when they see the word cloning, conjure up images of Darth Vader in his carbonite and start saying how "clone this" or "destroy that."

Clone works on both raster and vector images, and it's one of the most useful features in Photoshop.

Clone works in similar fashion to Encapsulate, except that it isn't limited to a single layer. Although the possibilities are limited only by your creativity, the clone feature is a very powerful tool.

To use the Clone tool, choose the clone tool from the Edit toolbar. The options available depend on what you're cloning from and what you're cloning to.

Clone is a great tool for masking out elements from other elements or objects. A simple example of cloning might be using it to make a clone of a background color (or gradient) and paste it somewhere else. The end result looks like you cloned a color from a flower to the picture and pasted it on the wall.

Q:

Changing colour of numbers when entering data into a input box

I am creating a page where users can enter data into an input box. It has a basic validation, which pops up a warning if something is wrong. However I want to change the colour of the numbers entered into the input box to red when they are incorrectly entered. Is there anyway to do this?

I recommend using a new style for it. No need to use css.

What are options for high performance websocket servers?

I'm looking to implement a long running, high volume, websocket server which I need to be able to scale. It is a hobby project, and I'm looking for suggestions on what technologies I should use.
By websocket server, I mean that it would act as a connection endpoint for a client, and would take care of establishing and closing the connection. This will be a client side server.
The server should be able to have 1000s or even 100000s of concurrent connections open at a time. They would need to stay alive indefinitely. It should be possible to reload the server without losing connections. The server would need to be able to handle multi-threaded connections.
I'm looking at Erlang, but its pretty expensive. Scala is an interesting idea, but the application is more complex than it seems. Is Node a sensible approach?

The easiest approach is to use the standard server from Node.js and for long-lived connections you can use Keep-Alive. It's usually better for the consumer to manage the timeout for themself (you can read more at but if you don't mind manually setting it, something like this should work:
