# What You Need to Know About Adobe Photoshop Elements

Adobe Photoshop Elements is a free, low-end program. It is best suited for beginners and those who require a simple photo editor.

Just like Adobe Photoshop, it has layer editing tools. Elements lacks the high-end features of Photoshop, such as advanced and professional-level features and custom brushes. In fact, the features are the same as the features in Photoshop, which makes this book's Elements content quite useful to Photoshop users.

The tools that you'll find in Elements are much more common, simple, and easy-to-use than those in the full-featured Photoshop. For example, layers are visible, but Photoshop layers are fully editable, and the tools are arranged in tool palettes that can be renamed, shuffled, and stacked on top of one another.

In addition, Elements limits you in how many photos you can open simultaneously in one document. You can work with only one image at a time, like Photoshop. For example, you can work on one image, while the other(s) remain open in a separate document window.

Elements lacks layer masks, which are one of the more complex editing techniques. Also, the program doesn't have filter effects such as the High Pass filter or Dodge and Burn filter.

For people who are familiar with Photoshop, Elements offers a simple and user-friendly way to accomplish many of the same types of tasks.

Photoshop is a graphic editing software. Its features include many tools for creating images (drawing, painting, and color and motion effects). It also has the standard features for image editing: making adjustments to brightness and contrast, applying filters (borders and cross-process, blur, as well as lens and vignette), creating gradients, changing the color and brightness of areas, adding special effects (textures, blurs, and lighting), cutting and pasting, redrawing shapes, and saving to a different format. Photoshop also has templates for organizations like weddings and bar and bat mitzvahs.

Best practices for efficiently running multiple MySQL connections through Python

I'm maintaining a Python script that requires a local MySQL server and a remote MySQL server. I'd like to take advantage of the fact that both servers are the same version and simply have to run some slightly different queries.
For example, if I wanted to run a count on some of the tables on the remote server, I need to SELECT first from the local database, and then a second time using the same database credentials from the remote server. I know you can use MySQLdb to open two connections at once, but I was wondering if this is a good practice, and if it's more efficient than making two calls to the server.

A:

If both servers are in the same network, then it's not a good practice to mix remote and local connections - each call should be done to a different database. It's better to open one connection, add multiple databases to it, and work with this connection.

The court reversed the trial court judgment which held American Steel liable for plaintiff's injuries, and affirmed the portion of the court's judgment ordering American Steel to pay the costs incurred in plaintiff's treatment of the ulcer.
In 1971 plaintiff, McDonald, was employed by American Steel as an inspector of the size of bolts for steel sheets in the production of automobile bodies. How to detect F5 for a browser when client forces a refresh?

I am using a Zend Server for my application. There will be a timeout, say 15 minutes for a page in the live application.
When user refreshes, I want to display message in bottom of the browser. I tried to use javascript. The code looks something like this.
window.setTimeout("location.reload();",315);

But this is not working and I don't see the message in bottom of the browser. Also, how do I detect it in php?

It is a native browser function. The onbeforeunload event is fired.
The code below is runned in a settimeout of 315ms (milliseconds) on every refresh.
setTimeout(function() { window.location.reload(true); }, 315);

You can use the same method for other browser behaviours like onbeforeload, onbeforecopy.. etc...
