4. **Use the Bilateral filter to smooth faces and adjust the skin area.**

Follow these steps to apply the Bilateral Filter:

1. Choose Filters⇒Adjustments⇒Bilateral.

The dialog box shown in Figure 1-9 appears.

2. Adjust the sliders in the dialog box to affect the degree of adjustment.

The spongy looking effect isn't always as sexy as the polaroid picture, but it can smooth skin. I chose the second bar on the top left, labeled Amount, to get a fairly subtle effect. The slider on the right is labeled Soften. This slider does a good job of either lightening or darkening shadows on the face. My face is already relatively even, so I used the Amount slider.

I'm trying to learn to troubleshoot my Ubuntu, so I'm not asking for a hand holding.
I have a single network interface in my system.
I found the syslog_redirect.conf

I reloaded the daemon.
If I set the syslog server to remote host:
syslog-ng /var/log/syslog remote:/var/log/syslog.error

I get the following message twice.

I'm not asking for help, I just want to know why this message is shown twice.
As a result, I can't understand why this message is shown twice.

The kernel doesn't match the rule twice. The first time it matches, the syslog_redirect is set, the message is logged at the syslog server location, and the kernel starts listening for the matching message (it'll generate the "company.comname: port 1" line).
The 2nd time, the kernel catches the matching message, but the syslog_redirect is already set. Thus, the kernel is not generating a message anymore (and is never set to listen to messages), so the message is not forwarded to the syslog server, and is just written in syslog_file location.
